Whygo2 Barcelona
Letsgo2 employees have travelled extensively to the destinations we feature. Here are the five main reasons they would consider a visit to Barcelona.
History
Barcelona is a city full of history left in the shadows of some of the great cities of Europe for centuries. The turn of the 19th century really saw the regeneration of what is now one of Europes elite. With some of the original buildings still standing, you have the opportunity explore the history of this city for yourself.
Entertainment
This is a city full of action and when it comes to entertainment there is no shortage. Hosting such events as the Sonar Music Festival and having its very own Bull Fighting arena, only adds to the electric atmosphere that is already displayed throughout Barcelona. It is also home to the Nou Camp, one of the worlds largest and most impressive football stadiums and if you pick the right date, why not find time to enjoy the F1 Grand Prix.
Shopping
With no shortage of designer outlets and mainstream stores it is a natural magnet for the fashion conscious and big name shoppers. From the waterfront the main shopping areas lead up Las Ramblas through Placa de Catalunya and on up Passeig de Gracia, as far as Placa de la Reina Maria Cristina. The Diagonal is jammed with mainstream stores and luxurious boutiques. Barcelona is certainly among Europes top cities in style and fashion.
Eating out
There are plenty of dining choices in Barcelonas culinary culture, for you to enjoy local food and drink. Why not try a traditional dish of Paella or go for Tapas with a glass or two of fine Spanish Rioja. You can also find plenty of alternative International options if you fancy a change and you will always find somewhere open to enjoy a sit down meal until the late hours.
Museums
Home to four outstanding museums, Barcelona offers one of the worlds most extraordinary music halls at the Palau de la Musica. The Museu Picasso offers a collection focussing on Picassos early work in a city where he spent several of his formative years. You can also visit the pink Alice in Wonderland house, now a house museum and Fundacio Miro, one of Barcelonas most exciting showcases of contemporary art, a gift from artist Joan Miro to his native city.
